About these terms
These Terms of Use apply to Chapter One and its related website and services, provided by Velor4 LLC. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
For the iOS app, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (EULA) governs your app license. These terms describe our service and subscription rules and do not replace that license or override mandatory consumer rights or applicable app-store terms.
Who can use Chapter One
You must be at least 13 to use Chapter One, or the higher minimum age required in your country. If you are below the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or legal guardian must review and agree to these terms and supervise your use.
Provide accurate account information, use an account you are authorized to access, and protect your sign-in credentials. Contact us if you believe your account has been used without permission.
Reading and reflection
Chapter One provides tools for Bible reading, study, reflection, and building a reading habit. Content reflects interpretation and may contain errors. It is for learning and personal reflection, and is not medical, mental-health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
Ask Chapter One is not included in the launch version. Features, content, and availability can change.
Subscriptions and billing
Some features require a paid subscription. Available plans, billing periods, prices, and any trial or introductory offer are shown in the app and in the app store's purchase confirmation before you subscribe. An offer applies only when explicitly displayed and when you meet its eligibility rules.
- Payment: the app store charges the payment method associated with your store account.
- Renewal: subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled through the app store. For Apple subscriptions, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next renewal; your account may be charged during the 24 hours before renewal.
- Trials: an offered free trial converts to the displayed paid plan unless cancelled in time under the offer and store terms. Any unused trial portion may be forfeited when you buy a subscription.
- Cancellation: manage your subscription through the store where you purchased it. Removing the app or deleting your Chapter One account does not cancel billing. Access after cancellation follows the store's terms and the subscription status.
- Restoration: use Restore purchases with the same purchasing store account. You may also need to sign in to the Chapter One account associated with the purchase.
- Refunds and price changes: refund eligibility and price-change notices or consent follow applicable law and the app store's rules. We do not guarantee a refund or override statutory rights.
For Apple purchases, see Apple's cancellation instructions and refund instructions.
Your writing and saved content
You retain your rights in the notes, reflections, and other original content you provide. You allow us and our service providers to process, store, and display that content as needed to operate the features you use and respond to support requests, as described in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for having the right to submit or share content. Do not submit unlawful content or another person's confidential information without permission. Save a separate copy of writing you need to keep before deleting your account.
Respectful and lawful use
Do not misuse the service, attempt to access someone else's account, bypass subscription or usage controls, interfere with security, distribute malware, infringe others' rights, or use the service for unlawful purposes. Do not bulk extract or redistribute proprietary app content without permission, except where applicable law permits it.
The app design, branding, and original study materials belong to their respective owners. Scripture translations and third-party materials remain subject to their applicable rights and notices. These terms do not create exclusive rights in public-domain text.
Ending use or closing an account
You can stop using Chapter One or delete your account at any time. Account deletion removes access to your saved account content and cannot be reversed through the app. Manage a subscription separately through the app store.
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address misuse, security concerns, legal obligations, or a violation of these terms. Where appropriate and permitted, we will provide notice and a way to contact us about the decision.
Availability and your rights
We work to make the service useful and reliable, but cannot promise uninterrupted access, error-free content, or that it will meet every purpose. To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided as available. The applicable app license and mandatory consumer law govern warranties, liability, and remedies.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer guarantees. We do not require you to waive those rights to use the service.
Updates and contact
We may update these terms to reflect service or legal changes. We will update the date above and provide further notice or seek agreement where required. Contact us with questions or disputes so we can try to resolve them.
